Anti-Piracy DNS Poisoning Blacks Out Media Group, ISP Refuses to Comment

German news outlet Heise was targeted by an unknown number of IP addresses redirecting web traffic to the country's anti-piracy website after being falsely accused of copyright infringement, with DNS tampering believed to be the technique adopted; whilst Heise has not received any acknowledgment from internet service provider 1&1's press office, it is thought that the German government has adopted the DNS tampering across a small number of pirate sites via its Copyright Clearing House on the Internet initiative that 1&1 is now a member of due to EU legislation which allows independent bodies to block websites that have no interest in providing legal content.
