TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew, is set to testify before Congress over concerns from lawmakers about the Chinese-owned app's alleged national security threat but investigative journalists have been unable to find evidence to support the allegations and TikTok denies sharing U.S. user data with the Chinese government; furthermore, a ban on the app could prove unpopular with younger voters and could have unfavourable consequences for advertisers.
